Tips Membedakan Adjectives –ed and –ing

Petunjuk:

Cara membedakan penggunaan –ed dengan –ing yang lebih mudah ialah dengan memperhatikan jenis kata sebelum titik-titik. Apabila didahului oleh manusia (si pelaku), maka kemungkinan besar jawabannya adalah –ed­ form. Bila didahului dengan benda, maka tidak mungkin tidak pastilah –ing form.

Contohnya:

The students choose not to go to museum. They are not .......... (interest) in history. Besides, the museum is not .......... (interest).

Pembahasan:

Pada kalimat “They are not .......... (interest) in history.” Yang mendahului titik-titik adalah “They” yang menunjukkan manusia (the students). Maka jawabannya seharusnya –ed form. Yakni “They are not interested in history”

Pada kalimat “Besides, the museum is not .......... (interest).” Yang mendahului titik-titik adalah “the museum” yang menunjukkan benda. Maka jawabannya seharusnya –ing­ form. Yakni “Besides, the museum is not interesting”
